ABOUT US

The Hamilton Astronomical Society (HAS) is next to Hamilton Zoo. One of the rare instances in the world where you will find an observatory and astronomical society next to a zoo! HAS was formed in 1933 and is one of the oldest of New Zealand's 25 amateur astronomical societies. Our core objective is to provide the people of the Waikato with an opportunity to learn about astronomy and to share their enthusiasm with like-minded people.

“ALIEN EARTHS” - a book by Professor Lisa Kaltenegger

As part of the Beatrice Hill Tinsley tour, we were very privileged to have Professor Lisa Kaltenegger, director of the Carl Sagan Institute for the Search for Life in the Cosmos at Cornell, come to speak to us in person at the Hamilton Observatory. The title of the talk was "Searching for Alien Earths". Lisa has a new book called "Alien Earths". You can click below or click this link to order her book!
